Our approach to pain syndromes and
musculoskeletetal dysfunctions involves analyzing the structure
of the body to identify and correct imbalances. Palpation, range
of motion, and visual appearance are used to reveal distortions
of the pelvis, sacrum, and spine. Muscle Energy Technique (MET)
is used to correct these distortions in conjunction with myofascial
release, stretching, and strengthening. This combination promotes
balance in the soft tissue and skeletal structures of the body.
The goal is to facilitate changes within the body that allow it
to resist the effects of gravity and move efficiently.
Muscle Energy Technique (MET) is a system that uses
precise positioning of the body in conjunction with very light muscle
contractions to reeducate muscle whose dysfunctional tone distorts
the body and causes asymmetry. Special emphasis is placed on the
lumbar spine, sacrum, and pelvis, which control the functional core
of the body. Balancing this area can relieve both distal and proximal
symptoms. This technique is very gentle on the patient and can be
very effective in relieving a variety of musculoskeletal dysfunctions.
Myofascial Release employs manual, deep tissue release
to lengthen chronically shortened connective tissues. Manual stretching
by the therapist and self stretching by the patient further this
process. Lengthened and weakened muscles are then strengthened with
resistance exercise.
In addition to the low back, other areas, such as
the arches of the feet, are also examined to identify and address
additional factors that may be negatively influencing the body.
The feet, like the lumbo pelvic region, are a base of support that
influence structures elsewhere in the body. Conditions caused by
poor arch support are addressed with custom molded orthotics with
careful regard to heel and foot positioning. The patient's activities
are also taken into consideration when choosing the specific amount
of support/rigidity that the orthotics will provide.
This complete approach is extremely effective in
correcting and maintaining good skeletal symmetry, thereby allowing
all body systems to perform at optimum levels. We are very proud
of our high success rate.
